Achieve Success by Living with Purpose

“Draw A Line” 2.0 (How to say ‘no’ with Compassion…say what prevents you, from saying Yes)

I Loved Shireen Khan’s post ‘Draw A Line – Around Self & Others’ (liveitbook.com/my_portfolio/draw-line-around-self-others/), so I thought it might be Helpful to Share & Give, a Synergistic addendum, of that which I’ve Learned & Lived.

One of the lessons I’ve learned, is how to say ‘no’ with Compassion! It’s based on the theory, that “What we resist, persists”, & that “When we focus on what we don’t want, we get what we focus on”, and the way it’s done, is by saying what it is, that prevents you from saying Yes!

For example, someone asks you to help them move, and you already have plans! Instead of saying “Sorry, I can’t” (buying forgiveness, with no-choice language), you can say (with Joy & Confidence) “My need to honor a previous commitment, prevents me from saying Yes!”

Lesson learned, from my time in India, studying NonViolence with Gandhi’s Grandson, my time with the Architect of NonViolent Communication (Marshall Rosenberg), studying the ‘Language of NonViolence’ & my Contemplative time, adding a SiMBa twist ;-)…I Give it & Live it, everyday!
