Achieve Success by Living with Purpose

Always put God first

I learned the harshest yet best lesson of my life when I turned my back on the Lord. My Papa planted the seed of faith in me at a very young age. I grew up with a genuine belief in God and was obedient to his word. Life was really good, and I always felt very blessed. Then I went to college. I took philosophy courses and started hanging out with people with no faith for the first time in my life. Within a blink of an eye my life turned completely upside down. It happened so fast I didn’t even know what happened. I got caught up in the world, and started living the ways I was taught my entire life not to live. The peace I was so used to feeling was completely gone. Here my parents thought I was off at college getting smarter, when in reality I had literally lost my soul. I rebelled, and for the first time in my life I experienced what life was like when i didn’t put God first. After MANY trials and difficult times I finally realized what had happened. I lived unrighteously and experienced the consequences. It took a while, but I eventually came full circle by the grace of God. I started to put him FIRST again by daily meditation on his word and applying all his wisdom in everything I did. I realized no college course or intellectual could ever surpass the teachings of God. Everything in my life started coming together. I was genuinely happy again and finally felt the peace only God can give. I now see everything good or bad that comes my way as a blessing, and a way to develop my character to be as whole and good as possible. I learned the most valuable lesson of my life when I no longer put God first because by totally losing myself, I found myself. A very wise person (Jairek Robbins) once told me in my darkest hour not to see my situation as a failure, but instead see it as a miracle/blessing, a way to grow and push forward. I don’t have any regrets because it all happened the way it was supposed to, but I sure could have saved myself from a lot of suffering if only I listened to my Papa. “In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” Proverbs 3:6
