It was the summer of 2006 in a small French town, and I was lucky enough to participate in a study abroad program with my favorite teacher at the University of Florida, Professor Bill Rossi. While there, among many other lessons, he taught me the importance of life as a journey, not a destination. As a life-long learner, I’ve always had plenty of short and long term goals to meet. You can say I am great at making to-do lists. However, when looking back thru my journey from a pre-medical student to a senior medical resident, the experiences I’ve had over the years finally seem to connect. All to often, people find themselves caught up in the moment and never take time to enjoy the present. After all, tomorrow isn’t guaranteed!
